When the Padres decide to be bad, they are REALLY bad. San Diego pitchers issued a whopping seven walks and 2nd baseman Jake Cronenworth turned what should have been a double play ball into a four-run inning in a 7-4 loss to the Twins in the first game of their weekend series in Minnesota.

Nestor Cortes was not as sharp as he was in his last outing when he took a perfect game into the 6th inning against the Dodgers. The lefty walked a pair and had his night cut short by an overzealous umpire. Cortes allowed a hit and a walk to open the 4th inning, prompting a meeting on the mound. Home plate ump Manny Gonzalez went out to break up the gathering, turned to go back behind the plate, stopped, exchanged a few words with Gonzalez and got tossed.
