Yes, the Green Bay Packers prized new edge rusher chose a number that the organization had kept out of circulation for 99 years in honor of one of its founders and the guy whose name is on the stadium.

“Number one,” Parsons said Friday evening at an introductory news conference at Lambeau Field following the blockbuster trade that brought him to Green Bay a day earlier. “I’m going with number one.”

The last time anyone wore it was in 1926, when Earl “Curly” Lambeau wore it. Lambeau stopped wearing it after that, even though he played three more seasons as a player/coach.
