LOWELL — Brody Kalwinski threw for over 100 yards just once in all of 2024. Against LaPorte on Friday night, the Red Devils quarterback had easily eclipsed the century mark by halftime.

By the final buzzer of Lowell’s 34-6 Week 2 win over the Slicers (1-1), Kalwinski had thrown for 181 yards and two touchdowns and ran for 116 yards and a score.

“I think being a dual threat out there with both running and passing as a team makes other teams have to choose one or the other, and they can’t defend both of them,” Kalwinski said. “It gives us more weapons and we’re more versatile out there.”
