GREEN BAY – When an iconic team resets the non-quarterback market with an extension, money isn’t the only perk.

The Green Bay Packers are abolishing their long, unofficial jersey policy to accommodate Micah Parsons ’ new number. The pass rusher will don No. 1, making him only the second player in franchise history to put on that jersey, and the first since founder and stadium namesake Curly Lambeau.

Parsons arrived at No. 1 because his long-time No. 11 is currently worn by receiver Jayden Reed. Instead of paying off Reed for the rights to No. 11, Parsons decided to mark his new beginning with a new jersey. Parsons had contemplated wearing No. 0, never before worn by a Packers player, before settling on No. 1.
