WEST FARGO — The energy inside Essentia Health Mustang Stadium vanquished after Bismarck Legacy defensive back Bennet Lonn intercepted a pass with six minutes to play in the game.
The Sabers would run out the clock to claim a 34-18 win over the No. 1-ranked West Fargo Sheyenne Mustangs on Friday night in North Dakota Division 3A football.
“We can fight,” said Legacy quarterback Brody Weigel. “We kept the pedal to the metal. … I’m proud of my boys who (were) digging deep in the fourth quarter.”
Lonn’s interception marked the second Legacy pick of the night. In the second quarter, Brayden Lein grabbed an interception and rumbled to the house for a 29-yard pick-six.
The touchdown made it 20-6 with 4:33 left in the quarter.
“Having a defensive touchdown is the biggest momentum change as a
