GLASSBORO – A season opener doesn’t define an entire campaign, but it can certainly help set the tone.

Just ask the Rancocas Valley High School football team.

The seventh-ranked Red Devils made a huge statement, scoring the first 33 points of their opener en route to a 33-14 victory over No. 3 Millville in the Battle at the Beach Friday night at Rowan University.

Rancocas Valley, which lost in the South Jersey Group 5 championship to Toms River North, was dominate in all phases of the game against the sectional Group 4 champion Millville.

“When we were getting ready for this game, we said if we play our type of football, RV football, we can win every game this season,” sophomore defensive lineman Michael Beasley said. “It’s toughness, competition and execution, that’s RV football.
