SOUTH BEND – Playing a marquee game away from home has become an annual tradition for Notre Dame in recent years.

Last season, it was a trip to Texas A&M and one of the loudest stadiums in the country. In 2023, the Irish played in the first game of the college football season in Dublin against Navy. In ’22, there was a night game at Ohio State. A year earlier, Notre Dame traveled to Florida State and won on a field goal as time expired.

On Sunday night, the sixth-ranked Irish will be able to add a trip to Miami to that list. Fresh off a 14-2 season and a No. 2 finish in the AP poll, they will open the new campaign against the 10th-ranked Hurricanes at Hard Rock Stadium in the latest iteration of what was once a white-hot rivalry.
