MISSOULA — The pieces are in place for the Missoula Big Sky football team to make a push that could leave fans reminiscing about past glory.
There was a time, three decades ago, when the Eagles set the standard in Montana's largest class. They earned state bragging rights in 1994 and earned a berth in the championship game the year before.
A lot has changed. Not so much with the Eagles' prevailing pride in their program as with other Class AA schools with much larger enrollments. The numbers game has been a brutal one for Big Sky and for a long time now, depth has been an issue.
