GREER, AZ (AZFamily) — The recovery process continues in eastern Arizona after the Greer Fire burned more than 20,000 acres, destroyed three structures, and forced hundreds to evacuate.
“During the fire, it looked extremely scary. There was so much smoke in our communities. People are displaced from their homes,” said Apache County Emergency Management Grant Manager Haley Nicoll .
Nicoll was one of those people forced to leave their homes and worked tirelessly day and night during the nearly two weeks the fire burned.
“The last three months have been work, work, work. It didn’t stop when the fire stopped,” said Nicoll.
The Greer fire started on May 13 and was fully contained by May 26. The cause of the fire is still under investigation , but the recovery efforts have been ongoin
