LIDO, Venice, Italy – Julia Roberts led the charge for Friday’s Venice Film Festival world premiere of “After the Hunt,” her very topical Ivy League sexual assault drama.

Set and filmed at Yale, “Hunt” charts the reverberations when Ayo Edebiri’s student accuses a teacher (Andrew Garfield), a protégé of married professor Roberts, of sexual assault.

Based on an original screenplay by Nora Garrett, “Hunt” is directed by Luca Guadagnino (“The Challengers”). They were here.

Despite its upper crust settings and lofty conversations, every entitled character is morally compromised and flawed, which is precisely why “Hunt” was appealing.

“Trouble is where the juicy stuff is,” Roberts, 57, allowed. “It makes it worthwhile getting up to work every morning.”
