My heroes are all gone now. Bill Vining, former head basketball coach at Ouachita Baptist University, died Aug. 15 at age 95. No college coach ever won as many games (555) at a single school in Arkansas as Vining won at Ouachita. He was more than a famous coach to me. He was a neighbor and mentor; almost like a second father.
