The little stone statue known as “ Hespeler Jack ” has been removed from his spot on a median at Adam Street and Rife Avenue by the City of Cambridge.

City crews took Jack away after a resident’s complaint, saying the statue would be in the way of snow clearing at the intersection.

“City crews responded following a resident complaint requesting its removal from the public space,” said Alana Russell, city’s director of communications.

“We understand that some residents may be disappointed that the original location may not be feasible on a permanent basis. We are pleased to see that Hespeler Jack has been adopted by a neighbour and placed on private property, where he can continue to contribute to the strong sense of community in Hespeler and be taken care of all year round.”
