Business owners say vendor markets at Carroll Creek hurting their livelihoods

The city of Frederick is studying the possible financial harm that events along Carroll Creek cause to downtown businesses and is considering solutions.

“During the prime market season last year, late spring through late fall, weekends on the creek with an event show a 20% to 30% drop in our sales revenue versus weekends without a creek event,” said Mindy Cawley, the owner of Vintage MC, a vintage furniture store on East Patrick Street, steps away from the creek.
