Met Office hour-by-hour forecast as wall of rain sweeps across South West
The South West is preparing for additional heavy downpours following torrential rain that swamped roads and caused damage to vehicles, homes and shops.
Following extended periods of sunshine and soaring temperatures, this summer is predicted to be one of the hottest on record.
The Met Office was "almost certain" that would be the case, with scientist Emily Carlisle, saying: "Provisional Met Office statistics show that summer 2025 will almost certainly be the warmest summer on record."
