A 25 year-old woman was fatally wounded Friday night in a double shooting on the South Side in the South Shore neighborhood, Chicago police said.
Shortly before midnight, officers responded to a call of a person shot in the 7700 block of South Essex Avenue and found the entry door of a building open. Once they entered, officers found two women shot, police said.
A 25-year-old woman had suffered two gunshot wounds to the abdomen and one to the left leg. She was taken to UChicago Medicine where she was pronounced dead.
The second victim, 23, was wounded twice to the right leg, and once to the left knee. She was taken to the same hospital where she was listed in fair condition, police said.
Police were speaking with a person of interest.
