SARASOTA, Fla. (WWSB) - Late August rains took our monthly totals sky high. At SRQ our monthly total is up to 11.55”, three inches above average. Bradenton hit 9.75” and Lakewood Ranch 11.73”, with the southeastern side of Venice also ove 11 inches (11.74”).
Our daily storms have taken a break. That break will hold for Saturday, then thunderstorm activity will pick up Sunday and Labor Day. Cold fronts continue to slide through the eastern U.S., stalling in Florida. Up north it’s an early taste of Fall weather. On the Suncoast we could see dew points dropping to the lower 70s from time to time.
Beaching and Boating conditions are fairly quiet Saturday. Afternoon thunderstorms could be a little more widespread Sunday, especially in inland areas. When thunder roars, go indoors! Rip current
