NORFOLK, Va. — A 20-year-old Norfolk man is dead after a high-speed chase with Virginia State Police early Saturday morning.
Troopers say it started around 1:30 a.m. when they spotted a motorcycle going more than 100 miles an hour near the Laskin Road overpass. When they tried to pull him over, he sped off, reaching speeds up to 140 miles an hour.
The chase went onto I-264, then off at Brambleton Avenue. Investigators say the rider ran several red lights before crashing into a concrete wall near Cecelia Street by the railroad tracks.
Rescue crews tried CPR, but the rider, later identified as Christian Robert Markus Snyder, died at the scene.
