ROCKY RIVER, Ohio - In a posting made to the Rocky River government website on August 1, 2025, residents are being asked to take extra precautions against mosquito bites.
This notice comes following the detection of West Nile Virus in a local mosquito trap. The Cuyahoga County Board of Health confirmed the positive result from a trap placed on Kings Post Parkway on July 14, 2025.
Health officials emphasize that finding West Nile Virus in mosquito populations during late summer is not unusual.
“It is normal to see a few positive traps this time of year,” according to the Board of Health, which will be increasing surveillance in the area to monitor the extent of the virus in the local mosquito population.
