Tinisha Turner landed a job at Share, Vancouver’s largest homeless service provider, with hopes of offering others the same kind of support that changed her life.
Years ago, the single mother was homeless in King County, where she received help from a case manager who guided her toward stability — and a new career.
But soon after Turner started as a case manager at Share in 2023, she started hearing from clients she had recently helped secure housing.
“People were calling me, crying and saying, ‘I’m going to be homeless again,’ ” said Turner, who no longer works at Share. “But I couldn’t do anything to help.”
