Jaylin Jones found the end zone on a 19-yard rushing score for Morris Knolls and blocked an extra point attempt to chip in multiple phases of his team’s 21-14 victory over Bayonne in the Mountaineer Classic at West Orange.
Luke Shivas opened the scoring with a four-yard rushing touchdown in the first quarter for Morris Knolls before Bayonne knotted things up with a touchdown plunge of its own on the opening play of the second. The teams played to a 14-14 draw at halftime before a second-half touchdown proved to be the difference for Morris Knolls (1-0).
Bayonne drops to 0-1 and will look to bounce back on Friday when it visits Elizabeth.
