CHARLESTON, S.C. (WCBD) - A battery failure sparked a Friday night house fire on Creek Side Way, fire officials say.
Firefighters with the Charleston Fire Department responded to 911 call reporting a structure fire around 9 p.m.
Crews arrived to find light smoke inside the three-story, single-family home.
Fire investigators learned that the residents had returned home and found the house filled with smoke, and as they opened the door leading to the garage, they saw heavier smoke and fire.
“The owner utilized several pots full of water and a fire extinguisher to control the fire before firefighters arrived,” said CFD.
The fire is believed to have originated at or near a lithium-ion rechargeable battery.
According to CFD, the resident told fire investigators that the battery would not
