AT least three people have died and 55 are injured after a horror train crash in Egypt.
The packed passenger train derailed near capital city Cairo - with shocking images showing overturned carriages.
The Egyptian Ministry of Health revealed the initial death toll following the accident.
They said that authorities had been following the crash "which resulted in the overturn of the cars of a passenger train".
They said: "The minister, his deputy Dr. Mohamed Al-Tayib, immediately headed to the scene of the incident."
The harrowing ordeal unfolded near the capital city, after the train derailed between Mersa Matruh and Alexandria.
The ministry added that 30 equipped ambulances were helping to transport patients.
