ST. PAUL, Minn. — Governor Tim Walz has announced that all United States and Minnesota flags will be flown at half-staff at state buildings on Sunday to honor Officer Karl Haugen of the Le Sueur Police Department, who passed away on August 18.

"Officer Karl Haugen dedicated more than 16 years to serving communities across Minnesota," Walz said. He expressed appreciation for Haugen's service and extended condolences to Haugen's family, including his wife Morgan and their children Griffin, Aurora, and Teddy.

Officer Haugen served in various roles throughout his career, including positions at the St. Peter Regional Treatment Center and the Minnesota Correctional Facility–Faribault, before joining the Le Sueur Police Department 13 years ago. Walz says Haugen was known for his love of outdoor
