While the bullpen carousel has slowed since the acquisition of Gregory Soto, Tyler Rogers, and Ryan Helsley at the deadline, the Mets continue to mix and match at the fringes of their roster, designating left-handed reliever José Castillo for assignment and recalling right-hander Chris Devenski from Triple-A Syracuse.

Castillo came over from the Diamondbacks for cash considerations in May and was having a terrible season in Arizona. Over five appearances, he gave up eight earned runs in six and a third innings, good for a 11.37 ERA. But once he came over to the Mets, he settled down and has been an effective lefty out of the bullpen, tossing 15 and a third innings over 16 appearances to a 2.35 ERA.

Castillo was on the big league roster from May 19 to June 24, when he was first designated
