A man died from his injuries after he was shot and then crashed his car into another person as well as a police vehicle in Trenton, New Jersey, investigators said.
The incident unfolded on Friday, Aug. 29, around 11:25 p.m. Trenton police officers were patrolling North Olden and Ohio avenues when there was a report of a shooting in the area. As the officers responded to the scene, their police vehicle was struck by another car. The driver, 41-year-old Andrew Coates of Trenton, had lost control of the car after being shot, investigators said.

Coates also struck a civilian in the area, police said.
Coates was taken to Capital Health Regional Medical Center where he was pronounced dead a few hours later.
