SPOKANE, Wash. — The Wall that Heals is a traveling memorial commemorating tens of thousands of men and women who died in the Vietnam War.
On Friday night, the wall was on full display at the Dwight Merkel Sports Complex — honoring lost lives and raising awareness about the hardships many survivors face when they return home.
For Vietnam War veteran Pat Payne, the wall isn't just a symbol for lost veterans. It's also a symbol of hope for survivors and their families.
"I really hope that the people here, and your viewers, take away the Vietnam veterans that are on the wall, how much they sacrificed," Payne said.
