WYTHEVILLE, Va. (WDBJ) - A memorial bench and plaque were made in honor of a Wytheville Police lieutenant who died of brain cancer in 2023.
Lieutenant Detective Dewey Clemons Jr. served the citizens of Wytheville for 30 years but retired April 2, 2019 due to Glioblastoma, a rapid forming brain tumor. He died April 22, 2023 at 53 years old.
The family of Lt. Clemons Jr. made a memorial presentation in his memory Friday, August 30.
His father Dewey Clemons Sr., mother Dee, and sister Kim Haga presented a memorial bench and plaque to the Wytheville Police Department.
“Lt. Clemons is missed, and this memorial bench and plaque will honor his memory.” Wytheville Police Department said.
