ATHENS, Texas (KLTV) - While most people were asleep, deputies were wrangling a kangaroo near Athens.

Sheriff Botie Hillhouse said they were called out to a location near CR 4618 at about 3:27 a.m. on Saturday.

The two deputies were able to calmly capture the animal and return it to the private owner. They can be seen on video interacting with the kangaroo, coaxing it into a leash.

“From narcotics busts to kangaroo rescues — we do it all," a post from the sheriff’s office said.
