MONTREAL - Courtney Sarault extended her gold-medal streak to seven races with a victory in the women's 1,000 metres at the Canadian short track speedskating championships on Saturday.

The Moncton native crossed the finish line in one minute 29.214 seconds at Maurice Richard Arena after grabbing the lead with three laps remaining.

Ann-Sophie Bachand of Sherbrooke, Que., made a double pass to move from fourth to second and secure silver (1:29.982), while Danaé Blais of Chateauguay, Que., took bronze (1:30.352).

On the men's side, Félix Roussel of Sherbrooke, Que., grabbed his third gold medal of the competition.

The Sherbrooke, Que., native passed overall points leader William Dandjinou in the final lap to win in 1:25.144 and finish as the top-ranked 1000 skater with 14,000 points.
