The first game of the Adam Sherman era for the Saint Francis football team served as the embodiment of what the program has prided itself upon in recent years – grit. The No. 24 Cougars rallied before falling 31-28 to No. 20 Campbellsville in the season opener for both teams Saturday at Bishop D’Arcy Stadium.
Trailing 31-14 with 13 minutes, 6 seconds remaining, the Cougars clawed back within three points, getting a defensive stop to take over on their own 39 yard line with two seconds to go. Quarterback Josh Kulka heaved the ball downfield to Adjaye Dandridge, who caught two short touchdown passes, but the Tigers were able to bat the ball down to secure the victory.
