FLORENCE, Ky. —

Florence police say that a woman is dead after a car crashed into a grocery store on Saturday.

Police say that the incident occurred at the Yasmin Halal Market on Turfway Road at approximately 5:01 p.m. Advertisement

The store is located inside of a small strip mall on the road, and according to community members, is popular with Florence's Somali immigrant community.

Yasmin Halal Market advertises itself as being a place that sells "Halal meat, groceries, drinks, Islamic clothing and more," according to the sign posted outside of the building.

Police later identified the vehicle as a gray Toyota Camry which had accelerated forward into the market, destroying its front entrance in the process.
