LAREDO, Tex. (KGNS) - On Saturday, August 30, the Laredo Organized Volunteers for the Elderly and Disadvantaged distributed 500 bags of food to individuals needing assistance in the community.

The LOVED Organization founder, Dr. Henry Carranza, hosted the event in memory of his late wife, Vernette Carranza, who died last month.

Mrs. Carranza was always active in the community and enjoyed supporting those in need.

Other organizations, such as the Laredo HOPE Center, Area Health Education Center, St. Joseph Church, the Apostles, Knights of Columbus and Laredo AIDS Services Consortia, all came together to assist with the distribution.
