SUMTER, S.C. — After more than five decades of uncertainty, closure has finally come for the family of Martha Ann Dicks, one of the known victims of South Carolina serial killer Donald “Pee Wee” Gaskins.

Dicks was just 20 years old when she was murdered. Her remains were lost for decades, until a discovery earlier this year finally gave her family a chance to honor her life and memory.

On Thursday, loved ones gathered at Walker Cemetery in Sumter to give her the funeral she never received.

"I want people to remember her for the person she was, you know?” said Adrienanna Clarke, Martha’s godsister. "Her laughing, joking around, teasing people; she was a fun person and fun person to be around."
