A man has been charged with murder and is accused of shooting and killing William Askew in July on Laurel Bowie Road.

Police arrested and charged James King with first and second degree murder.

“To lose him like this, it’s still mind-boggling because we don’t really know what happened,” said Keisa Vaughn, Askew’s aunt.

Askew’s loved ones are grappling with the loss of a man they say meant so much to their family.

“He was just our light,” Vaughn said. “[…] He was just full of so much love. He was a gentleman.”

Prince George's County police say Askew was shot and killed near a gas station along Laurel Bowie Road. Askew was found in the road not too far from the scene.
