PEORIA ( 25News Now ) - One in eight men will get diagnosed with prostate cancer in his lifetime, so one Peoria area group is riding around town encouraging them to get tested.

The Peoria Area Prostate Awareness Society , or PAPA’s, held its annual Fun Ride Saturday, with more than 100 people on bicycles stopping in several Peoria and West Peoria bars to spread awareness and encourage men to get prostate exams and testing.

“There’s a stigma about prostate cancer. Guys, you know, they’re all about I don’t know if I want to do this or about the diagnostics and all that kind of stuff, but we need to teach men to take care of their health, be their own self-advocate,” said Steve Tippett, a prostate cancer survivor and the group’s treasurer.
