Bear Bachmeier has a new fan in Portland State head coach Bruce Barnum — who says BYU’s true freshman QB reminds him of a specific mythical creature.

“I watched him during pregame, because I hoped his height wasn’t right or his weight wasn’t right, but then I looked at his (hindquarters) and his legs and he looked like a (expletive) centaur,” Barnum said after Portland State’s 69-0 loss to the Cougars Saturday night.

“He was throwing the ball well, durable, fast, smart, I liked his release, he’s taller than I thought he was and he’s a good football player.
