ANN ARBOR – Michigan football head coach Sherrone Moore and true freshman starting quarterback Bryce Underwood didn’t quite agree on how his first start went in postgame comments.
Underwood, the No. 1 overall recruit in his class, was asked to grade his college debut, which saw him throw 21 of 31 for 251 yards and no turnovers, propelling the 14th-ranked Wolverines to a 34-17 win over New Mexico.
“A C plus,” he said. “There’s a lot of things I’ve got to work on, and the team as well. But we’ll go back to the drawing board and we’ll come back better next week.”
When asked if Underwood’s self-assessment was fair, Moore smiled.
