Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Sunday praised Jammu Kashmir for hosting landmark sporting events, including the first-ever day-night cricket match in Pulwama and the country’s inaugural Khelo India Water Sports Festival at Dal Lake.
Speaking during the 125th episode of his monthly radio programme Mann Ki Baat , the Prime Minister said the region had shown remarkable progress in sports despite challenges posed by floods and rains in recent years.
Highlighting the Royal Premier League (RPL), Modi said Pulwama witnessed an “unforgettable moment” when thousands of spectators, particularly youth, gathered to watch cricket under floodlights for the first time. “The enthusiasm in the stadium was extraordinary,” he remarked.
