The 49th annual Labor Day Liftoff hot air balloon festival kicked off at Memorial Park in Colorado Springs this weekend.
Weather canceled Saturday's launch and glow, but more launches are planned early Sunday and Monday mornings. Another balloon glow is set for Sunday night.
Balloon flights depend on safe conditions. High winds, low cloud ceilings, poor visibility, rain, thunder or lightning can ground launches. Organizers say weather conditions require:
Winds under 8 mph at the surface
Clear skies with at least 5 miles of visibility
No rain, thunder or lightning
Cloud cover is evaluated the morning of each launch
Here’s a look at Sunday’s schedule:
Sunday morning: Lift Off
5:15 a.m. — Park and concessions open
6 a.m. — Drone show
7 a.m. — Balloon launch; beer and mimosa gard
