Introduced as a new way to help humans solve problems, learn, and complete bothersome tasks, artificial intelligence was supposed to be the technology that made everyone's lives easier. In some ways, it has, but not without creating or exacerbating a number of serious environmental and legal issues, not to mention its impact on the workforce. In the film and television industries, AI is being incorporated into many storylines that examine the technology's wide-ranging implications through a variety of creative lenses. In many ways, the issues it raises are things we've been grappling with for generations, so it'd be relatively easy to approach new tellings of classic stories by using them as metaphors for the dangers of AI.
