Around 9,550 children in the U.S. will be diagnosed with cancer in 2025, the American Cancer Society reports.
Valparaiso resident Ronan Willis, 4, was diagnosed with B-Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia last year on Valentine's Day.
Willis is currently in remission, although he will continue monthly clinic visits and chemotherapy until next July. To celebrate his progress, Willis will be honored at the third annual Childhood Cancer is RUFF Gala on Saturday, Sept. 13, at the Hellenic Cultural Center at 8000 Madison St. in Merrillville.
"The night is meant for all to have a ball, celebrate life and take with them a new outlook on how to treat others," LNL Foundation founder Karen Hannon said.
