The Powerball jackpot continues its climb after no ticket matched all six numbers in yesterday's drawing, keeping the billion-dollar prize up for grabs.

As of Sunday morning, the estimated jackpot for the next drawing on Labor Day stands at $1.1 billion, making it the fifth largest in Powerball history.

Why It Matters

The surging jackpot comes after a streak of 39 consecutive drawings without a top prize winner since May 31, when a ticket sold in California claimed a jackpot. That run is approaching the record of 42 drawings set in April 2024, according to the Multi-State Lottery Association, which operates Powerball.

Saturday's drawing offered a one-time cash payout of $453.1 million before taxes. If no one wins the draw, the cash value and annuity will continue to rise.
