SALEM Ore. (KPTV) - Lawmakers convened for a second day on Sunday to work on a special session to decide the fate of Governor Tina Kotek’s transportation bill , a proposal designed to protect hundreds of ODOT jobs, but with a catch: a higher payroll tax and a hike to the gas tax.
The first day of the special session, last Friday , was marked with delays as Democrats struggled to reach quorum.
Lawmakers have reconvened at the capitol on Sunday to continue working on a solution and hear public testimony.
