SHREWSBURY — A 26-year-old man who allegedly shot and killed a father who had just dropped his son off at school during an argument over spray-painting has a history of mental illness and interactions with local police, court records show.
Snehal A. Srivastava was arraigned Friday in Westborough District Court on charges of armed assault with intent to murder and carrying a firearm without a license. He pleaded not guilty and was ordered held without bail pending a dangerousness hearing on Sept. 12. He was not brought into the courtroom at his lawyer’s request.
Srivastava is accused of shooting Kevin Doherty, who was walking home shortly before 9 a.m. on Thursday after dropping off his 6-year-old son at Shrewsbury’s Coolidge Elementary School.
