Emerging star David Malukas was taken to a local hospital by helicopter after a crash in Lap 83 of the season finale.

LEBANON, Tenn. — David Malukas was trying to lap rookie Louis Foster during Sunday's IndyCar finale at Nashville Superspeedway and ended up being Life-Flighted to a nearby hospital by helicopter.

Malukas, a 23-year-old rising IndyCar star, was running near the front of the race after starting second. But, after he and Foster made contact on Lap 83, Malukas spun and his rear hit the outer SAFER barrier and ended his day. Malukas was transported to the medical center before taking a helicopter ride as a precaution.
