(FOX40.COM) — The California Highway Patrol Gold Run found a man dead in a vehicle that was off the roadway in the Foresthill area on Saturday.

According to authorities, CHP received a call at 3:39 p.m. reporting a crashed vehicle on the 12400 block of Shir Tail Canyon Road. When officers arrived at the scene, they found the vehicle had fallen down a steep embankment.
Officers found a 70-year-old man dead in the vehicle. Officers noticed trauma to the man's body, but it is not confirmed if he died from the crash or from a possible medical emergency.
The coroners reported that the man had been dead for approximately 18-24 hours before being found by the officers. The identity of the man has yet to be released.
