A man accused of rape and other charges in New Windsor who has been living as a fugitive from justice in the Philippines since 2020 was arrested on Aug. 29.

New Windsor police said Dominic Mamaat, 46, was taken into custody at John F. Kennedy International Airport by investigators from their department, the FBI Hudson Valley Safe Streets Task Force and the Department of Homeland Security.

The arrest followed a lengthy, multi-agency investigation.

Mamaat originally was arrested by the New Windsor Police Department in May 2020. In August of that year, the Orange County District Attorney's office presented the case to a grand jury.
