Infielder Luis Urías, who played for the Milwaukee Brewers from 2020 into 2023, was signed to a minor-league contract and will report to Class AAA Nashville, the team announced on Sunday night, Aug. 31.
Urías, 28, is no doubt being looked at as potential depth at third and second base as well as shortstop potentially with the team girding itself for the stretch run with younger, less-experienced players like Caleb Durbin, Andruw Monasterio and Anthony Siegler all having filled meaningful roles over the past few months.
Durbin has played a solid third base as the primary starter there since late April, while Monasterio has been pressed into starting duty at shortstop with Joey Ortiz on the injured list with a strained hamstring.
