A 35-year-old man is dead after a car crashed and erupted in flames overnight in Casco, Maine.

The Cumberland County Sheriff's Office tells NBC10 Boston affiliate News Center Maine that deputies responded around 1:15 a.m. Sunday to a crash involving a fire on State Park Road near the Casco/Naples town line.

Once on scene, deputies found a silver Jeep Grand Cherokee fully engulfed in flames, with the driver, identified as Nicholas Strout, outside of the vehicle with life-threatening injuries.

Strout, of Hiram, was taken to Bridgton Hospital, where he died from his injuries, officials told News Center Maine.
