Two people were killed in a fiery crash in New Haven on Sunday morning, according to police.
Officers were called to the 500 block of Ella T. Grasso Boulevard around 2:50 a.m. for a report of a crash where a vehicle struck a tree and caught on fire.

Firefighters at the scene extinguished the fire. Once the fire was extinguished, police said a body was found in the back seat of the vehicle. The person was pronounced dead. Their identity has not yet been released.
Shortly after, Yale New Haven Hospital notified police about someone who was transported to the emergency department by private vehicle and appeared to have been involved in the same crash.
The person, identified by police as a 40-year-old man, later died
